Having a distinct sound doesn't mean you have to be repetitive. I like lot of music on this list, but definitely agree with it too. (Status Quo should have made the list too!) Listen Ramones Too Tough To Die or AC/DC's Stiff Upper Lip album for instance. Instantly recognisable sound, but there both actually did something less formulaic. Of course all bands of the list surely have a lot of songs that aren't as similar too. And like said, it doesn't matter if their music is anyway. With some artist that's the idea.

@any-jam4467 Naah. AC/DC has way more variety you give them credit for. It's just their hit songs are very similar which is hardly their fault as what is popular is popular. I'd also argue there's more to it than singing style, chords and formulas that differentiate sound. Every AC/DC album before Mutt Lange era sounded distinctively different. And every Mutt Lange produced album regardless of artist also sounds like Mutt Lange. I'm not big fan of the guy...
