Really? It is an engineering, and there is nothing cooler than engineering. Making things that work out of nothing is the ultimate coolness. I was never bored in my well over 30 years career, only ever worked on cool and fun things. If someone sees software engineering as not cool and mundane, they are doing it wrong (e.g., they became web code monkeys).

Why? If they are studying computer science, their academic future is not going to be affected in a slightest. They will still write and publish their own research papers, no AI can replace them. I hope people who study CS are not going to be wasted as code.monkeys, right?
