This whole attitude is so alien for me... Not going to a university means missing out on a chance to understand how this world works. You won't be able to do it on your own, unless you're an absolute genius - university gives you a structure and system, and without such structure you'll just accumulate piles of unconnected pieces of knowledge and will never make any sense of them. Not having a job is also quite a limitation, you cannot do anything big and meaningful on your own, without collaborating with hundreds (or thousands) of other people. Crap, in my domain of science typical experimental papers have hundreds of authors. You cannot do it on your own in your kitchen. The attitude this channel is pushing is only suitable for entirely passive, unambitious people who have zero interests and only want to be passive consumers.

@AccordingtoNicole so, no arguments on an actual subject? How will you learn things that matter (as in, fundamental science) without going to a university? It may be ok to bail out half-way, but still, there's no other way. And, no, it's not about "feeling important", it's about the very basic need for having at least some meaning in life, instead of being a passive consumer, which is, apparently, your main goal.

@AccordingtoNicole I think it's the opposite. You did not even have an opportunity to gain an access to alternative world views, you decided to quit early on. You never had an opportunity to learn how the world works, for it's not possible to gain any scientific knowledge on your own. You're stuck with mythical thinking now, and very little chance for ever escaping it. You never had an opportunity to work on large and meaningful projects, to have any impact on our civilisation, for you decided to be on your own and minimise collaboration with the other people (did I get it right that you did not even manage yet to build that music band you dreamed of?). I suspect you're one of those who believe that higher education is meant to prepare you for a job and that people get it to have better income. It's not. And was never meant to be. It's the only way to get an access to critical thinking and systematic knowledge (again, unless you're a one in a billion kind of genius).

@josephbrown9685 look, the same.person was insinuating in the other video that people who have a "dream job" are lying or delusional. So this position is not presented as some escapist alterbative to mainstream route, it is presented as somehow "superior" way of life. And it is inherently destructive and dangerous. I understand how it can be appealing to the young people who feel left behind, scared of the hostile world, but this is not new and all the previous generations went through the same. Spreading this nonsense now is just as destructive as ever.
