@ my comment got deleted for some reason, I'll repeat it again: dozens of people from my home town went to Chernobyl. Most of them - nuclear physicists. They knew the danger. Those who survived never regretted what they did.

@ChernobylFamily another Soviet computer from that era, slightly newer than SKALA (1970, AFAIR), built using ferrite core memory and discrete ICs. It's still deployed in the S-300 complexes. Was quite a fascinating design for its time - very RISC-like architecture with quite a deep pipeline, SMP with hot-swap for CPUs, also extensive self-testing features like in SKALA. It's sad that only military, nuclear and aerospace applications got unique Soviet designs while civilians had to cope with poorly copied western computers...

@jakephilbrick7384 looks like you're extrapolating your experience with poor education onto a country that never had such a problem. We were all drilled on dangers of radiation and methods of protection.

@ChernobylFamily have you seen ЦВК, by any chance?

@bradywaible-uh4ji more deranged propaganda, please, it's so funny. Dozens of people from my home town went voluntarily to Chernobyl the moment they heard of the disaster. Most of them - nuclear physicists. Some came back. Some even lived long after. Not a single one ever regretted their choice.
