how? Head hunters are more active than ever these days, looks like the market is booming. And I do not see any signs of developers being out of demand any time soon.

@itrollallot9780 job market is booming, it's not that directly connected to the stock market. I only see demand for developers growing, I get recruiter calls every day and they're more pushy than ever before. May depend on location though, can only speak of London.

And yet, every single coder who went into this industry for money turned out to be mediocre at best. Never seen an opposite example, not once in my over 30 years career.

@peterlk3276 wtf are you talking about? There are no hundreds of technologies, and there is hardly anything new happening in the IT, once you know the fundamentals it is enough to understand that everything "new" is just another rehash of something old and well known.

Meh. You do need a degree to do anything even mildly intellectual. Simply for the reason that it's nearly impossible to learn how to study a topic systematically outside of a higher education.

"Go for the front-end jobs" - the worst advice possible! It's a dead-end, and will hardly teach anything useful. Just stay away from web altogether if you want an interesting career.

Paging dr. Sapir and dr. Whorf. Your first language is an extremely important thing, it will leave a mark on your mind for the rest of your life.

have you tried it? It cannot write code, so relax and keep studying. Code LLMs write is awful, mostly useless, and requires more human attention than the code written by a human, which pretty much defeats the purpose. And it is not going to change with models getting better, as the problem of LLMs being confidently wrong won't be fixed.

Luckily, Emacs is not a "thing", so it beats vim squarely.
