  1. SQL lost its mathematical roots. It is not a complete relational algebra. If you want a pure relational algebra, it's Datalog, and it's much better than SQL in all possible ways.

  5.  @AlLiberali  not just Israeli, it is an ancient Sumeran word, and spelled very similar to "SQL"

  6.  @HrHaakon  Datalog is just the relational algebra, as is. SQL is a convoluted attempt to represent relational algebra, but getting lost in too much syntax and irrelevant details. They tried to solve the same problem, but Datalog is much cleaner and simpler.
