what are you talking about? Both Vim and Emacs can easily do it.

@T0m1s do you mean you prefer lesser, crippled debuggers that cannot even be scripted? Or you're advocating for using LLDB, which is perfectly fine in most cases but still not quite there yet, not on par with gdb on features. Pretty much nothing is.

@T0m1s you should not program at all, if you cannot debug without a "user friendly interface".

@T0m1s it is only miserable if you don't know how to use it. When people with visual debuggers waste their time stepping through code, inspecting values, all that crap, GDB debugs for me unattended, run by scripts.

IT guys often care if some dimwit developers insist to use some wide open security hole like vscode which keep sucking unverified extensions like there's no tomorrow. In the more sophisticated workplaces they just ban this kind of crap indiscriminately.

@T0m1s sounds like you only ever did very primitive forms of development, with small projects, consisting mostly of a single language, without any decent logging and instrumenting infrastructure (people who step through code in debuggers manually simply don't know how to program, it's the worst waste of time imaginable), and clearly you never had cases where you had to debug elusive, hard to reproduce heisenbugs. Funny when kids with their toys criticise professional tools for being too complex. Stick to your toys indeed, kids, but remember that you're not real programmers and your experience have nothing to do with what real programmers deal with.
