Since when a university education is for something as mundane as jobs? Never was. Those who get degrees with a goal of improving their chance of employment deserve no sympathy whatsoever. They never planned to carry on a career in science, they did not get their education simply because of its inherent worth - no, they thought it'll make them "employable". Good that they're getting a dose of reality check, they deserve it.
