I also must have imagined an imaginary schoolfriend whose family had escaped from East Germany who had an Uncle shot in their escape.....sorry, they COULDN'T have been "escaping", could they, as they had SUCH a fantastic standard of living, with NO food queues, NO shortage of meat, and NO rationing of power supply. I wonder where my mind had managed to create such a LIAR of an imaginary friend ? ? ?

Oh I don't know ? Wilson devalued the Pound and wrecked trade. Callaghan did such a stellar job it led to the 1976 crisis where the IMF had to step in, and opened the flood gates to "International Banking" calling the shots ? ?
