Same thing happened in California repeatedly. In 2017 you had the Tubs Fire. That one was very bad. It entered into a community with no warning. The wind just fueled the fire. I think they thought that it wouldn't spread. Many people died. Homes were burned down...businesses. Then you have the Paradise fire. That one was really bad! No warnings. It all started from a power line pole. Then it just spread the fire. Killing a lot of people and destroying another in it's path. Just like this situation. Same thing in fact like I said! It sounds to me like for this situation they didn't know a fire had happened. My theory is that the fire came from downed power lines which was the case in California. Those go down near dry grass and poof. Then it spreads. If there was a fire that the fire department had been handling, you would have heard about it prior. That's not the case. So sounds like power lines went down near grass and poof. By then it was too late even since it goes so fast spreading. I do agree that the sirens should have been at least on when the fire was detected. At least that would have been some type of warning to wake people up. Not many other states have that option sirens for fires.

The power should have been shut off before the hurricane landed foot. Maui ,,near by cities...power shut off. Then you don't have power lines causing fires because they are out completely. Then when hurricane leaves that's when you restore power

So PG&E took responsibility for that, but in the end they are still there. I think they should have been kicked to the curb personally.
