I wish I could remember the part of the brain that predisposes a person to be more fearful and need a strong father figure to protect them but brain scientists are able to determine whether a person will be a Republican by the size of that part of the brain.

The only way I can think of to solve the problem is to find a way to make the right wingers feel safe in a changing world without losing what little democracy we have left in what has become an oligarchy.

@jenniferr9624 Thanks. I wasn't able to remember what it was called at the time I wrote the comment. I find myself having more senior moments like that as I get older.

@Florida46 You're talking about the lawmakers while I am talking about the average Republican voter. The regular people, many of whom I know, rather than the extremists. I know a few of those too and both need to be made to feel safe if there is to be any hope of bringing the country back together. We are both right because we are speaking of entirely different people.
