Bale leaves Ra's to die after he had already saved him, after Ra's had tried to destroy a city full of millions. He didn't have time to think of a way to save Ra's. Bale saves the Joker when he falls, tries to sacrifice himself to stop Dent from killing Gordon. It's believable because Bale tries everything before having to take drastic measures. The morality imparted by his parents is still present in his batman Affleck on the other hand blows up several escort vehicles, accompanying a truck of cryptonite, doubtless killing the occupants. He brands criminals knowing those brands usually results in their deaths behind bars. He's indifferent to death, jaded by it. Now if we saw that deterioration it would be more believable but Affleck's first appearance is an old, bitter Bruce who kills and it wasn't explored why he made that leap. In short Bale commits manslaughter, Affleck murder. Both actors are amazing but the script and direction given to Affleck was far inferior than that given to Bale

  16. The batman isn't defined by your interpretation of him and the Dark Knight trilogy is not supposed to be a Carbon Copy of the comics. This was a more grounded, gritty and emotional take What Nolan did put batman on the spotlight and to this day still widely regarded as the best superhero trilogy. You're entitled to your opinion but don't go around pretending you speak for "true batman fans"

  17.  @cnote2458  good, I'm glad Nolan adapted it. If every Batman movie was a completely faithful comic book iteration it would have died out decades ago. Art changes and so do films and characters And I never claimed I speak for Batman fans, you did, and you should quit pretending you're some kind of representative of them

  18.  @cnote2458  I've read batman comics, watched batman animated movies and the original animated series (still some of my favourite batman material) and this dark knight trilogy, they're all great in their own right. The problem is they are different mediums, you can't make a comic book into a movie, liberties have to be taken and creative vision has to remain authentic Nolan was not a cash grabber, he was approached and asked many times to do the batman for the DCEU and refused, citing he had already told his story, if he was after fame or money he would have done it again. Nolan took on the project to tell a batman story, he does not have to make it into a comic book movie. You face a problem, you know batman as you have read it, that is your perception of him and I don't think you can overlook that to appreciate Nolan's work. If his movies were such a blatant cash grab they wouldn't have revitalised the batman character and wouldn't have been some of the best selling and critically acclaimed superhero movies to date. I can't make you appreciate his work, nor should I, just as you should not put down people who do appreciate his work

  22. Well this was Arkham, the seedy underbelly of Gotham, as opposed to the rich downtown areas that the Joker and Bane targeted in subsequent films
