Lots of people don't take their cars in for regular maintenance, many people like to upgrade cars frequently, the purchase of used cars is decreasing. All these statistics paint a picture of unreliable modern cars but that's not necessarily the case. People driving 2038 car in 2040 instead of a 2018 car doesn't mean the 2018 car is unreliable
