The turnover in ATC is really high so it baffles me how they always have staff on hand. Respect to these guys they do a vital job

No they're not
4
I doubt that. Software can't replicate what ATC does
3
Yes, largely because New York and London have multiple airports to spread the load where as Atlanta only has one international airport
3
No, O'Hare is the 6th busiest airport in the world
3
@szargo8324 well busiest is determined by passenger traffic not aircraft numbers
3
@thatkaveman99 Denver has about 2/3 the traffic movement that ATL has
2
No it's not
2
The guy in charge is Native American, you blind or something?
2
Heathrow and Dubai is actually less busy
2
Really depends on your experience level, but on average ATC
2
That's a load of bullshit
2
It may be to avoid confusion seeing as Delta Airlines HQ is at that airport and everyone of their planes starts with "Delta..."
2
Shocking? Air travel has only continuously grown safer, what the FAA needs is ten qualified air traffic controllers not five excellent ones
2
@dag5852 it's a bot
1
You're joking right?
1
@elegantboss7546 Chhatrapati Shivaji Magaraj International Airport was in 2019 the 41st busiest airport in the world with a net traffic of 47 million people which isn't even half of what Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International pulled in that year
1
@elegantboss7546 actually no as well, currently the busiest single runway airport in the world is Gatwick International
1
No it's not
1
Busiest is most often determined by passenger volume in which case yes ATL is the busiest airport in the world
1
It's literally what you just said, the taxi way with the mark D
1
There aren't enough, ATC is very stressful and very few people do it
1
In terms of passenger numbers no, in terms of flight movements yes
1
Actually it was. At the year of release this airport had the most passengers come through in the world
1
Different radio bandwidths are used. Radio corporations are only allowed to use bandwidths they own, military and government use other bandwidths that are not allowed to be used unauthorized personell
1
No way
1
@szargo8324 so that means 99.9999% view it by passenger counts
1
@szargo8324 just because that 0.0001% job is altered based on on aircraft numbers it doesn't change the facts of the matter and no salaries are not "based" on traffic counts that's blatantly false. They may be influenced by them but they are based on the FAA's budget for ATC
1
@szargo8324 I disagree with you on that. I believe influenced by them is a more accurate term but not based. Additionally this hardly relates to your original point. The fact remains that to 99.9999% of people the busiest airport means the ones with the highest foot traffic and that is for good reason. The airport with higher foot traffic will need more facilities, more gates, more shops more security checkpoints etc. ATC isn't the only ones affected by business it also affects the TSA and other airport personnel
1
@keithkarner3294 what makes you think I'm not home, half the world is in lockdown
1
Because there aren't enough people who want to become air traffic controllers
