  3.  @Bllksem  idk where you get your biltong from but it's not supposed to have huge quantities of salt. Salt is supposed to be just a preservative and flavour enhancer, and is hardly a lot. You'd get more preservatives from buying a steak at Morrisons

  4.  @Bllksem  well I agree it is a snack, not made to be a meal but when I've made biltong I've found that the salt that goes in isn't as much as people think and it's quite healthy for it's protein content. Taking a supermarket chicken, sausage or steak on the other hand has loads of preservatives that you don't get from biltong so there are advantages as well as disadvantages
