Private Citizens have the right to refuse to answer any questions given to them by a police officer it's literally in the 5th amendment And no the officer did not have probable cause to detain the suspect, which is why he was suspended in the first place

  17. After reading the story on multiple news sites I have to say I agree with the judge. Grace was put on probation for two reasons. A charge of theft of another student's cellphones and a charge of assault against her mother, that came about because police were called by the mother on grace three times. She violated the terms of her probation and now there needs to be involvement. Her social worker has said she's in stage 2 of a 5 stage programme and the judge argues that taking her out of the programme will not complete her rehabilitation. I hope she is able to complete the programme and go home but I trust the judge's decision in this given the relevant evidence
