Jeff was trying to point out the differences between these frameworks but I was just noticing how similar they all actually are. If you know MVC, you can pretty much figure out what's happening in any of them.

Please do more such videos on computer science fundamentals. Like how compilers work, how interrupts work, internal working of CPU, network fundamentals, OS fundamentals, etc.

Yeah okay. Javascript devs will never go out of jobs even when AI is ruling everything else, because the unemployed humans will be spitting out new JS frameworks and major changes every day. So yeah keep doing this shit.

ASI decided not to use any JS framework. I hope we humans take inspiration from it and stop the never ending JS wars 😂

01:10 Did anyone notice that the guy behind Zuck is also checking out the "Rack overflow"

I thought game development was super complex but tools like these make it much easier to develop complex games. Hats off to the developers of these frameworks. They must be amongst the best SWEs out there.

As a front-end developer, I always feel overwhelmed with constant changes in the framework and tooling landscape. Sometimes I feel I would have accomplished much more in all these years if I was into backend development or ML/AI.

It will probably take Google a year to reach ChatGPT's current level. I already felt so when Google demoed Bart. But now I am convinced.

Vercel is clearly competing with AWS, Google cloud and Azure now. They are trying to pull in NextJS crowd, and I am sure it's not a small number, especially with growing popularity of the framework. Smart move.
35
Not surprising. Apple has always maintained that Safari is the fastest browser, and JS benchmarks also prove that.
35
After seeing this, I am actually feeling more depressed than excited. The list of "next mind blowing framework" in front-end development never stops.
26
Apple's cloud compute does not run GPT, but rather Apple's own LLM. Only when their LLM thinks it's not capable of performing the task, it will ask the user if they want to use chatgpt instead? So the privacy concern is in user's hands. And i am pretty sure they will launch a better LLM on par with chatgpt 4 in a year's time.
24
Damn. I should have studied computer science in college to understand all of this.
20
Yes that's exactly what it is. Just listen to the introductory talk to NestJS by its creator.
11
He's actually right. 5k is not much, especially if you look at the top contributors on SO, having 100k+ scores.
9
Great content like always. Can you do a video on designing backend apis with a focus on creating the right endpoints (from a front-end engineer's perspective)?
8
Exactly what I thought!
7
The Apple pages never scroll smoothly when using parallax. It seems that it's quite cpu/gpu heavy, especially when using multiple parallax layers. Apple should come up with something new now!
7
@samuelmorkbednarzkepler Comparing vanilla js with these frameworks is stupid. Compare vue with other front-end frameworks and then tell me if you see massive differences in terms of productivity?
7
Please do a beyond 100 seconds for React Native!

So my fear is finally playing out. I saw this coming when GPT-3 was introduced and people started using its APIs to generate code out of english statements. I think Jeff's "joking around" is actually not a joke. Five years down the line we might actually see developers getting replaced by technicians, or worse; product managers just writing out the functionality in detail and getting the software built by AI. So yeah I am terrified. Better start learning AI and ML now I guess. Jeff, please start short videos on AI/ML. We don't want to loose our jobs!
5
Glad to know I am not the only one who thinks he's incompetent, yet wants the best salaries and titles 😅

Sorry folks. After watching this entire video on Vim, I still don't see any real benefits of using it. There are shortcuts for pretty much everything that Vim has to offer. Like 'cmd + <-' to move at the beginning of line. Navigation can simply be handled by the arrow keys. Using Vim is actually more work!
4
These commands are also available on Mac OS. So that means that these commands are originally from Unix and not Linux?
4
@SherwinCeleste-cj7ng And do you really think OpenAI will give away their model to Apple so that they can host and run it anywhere?
4
Ah, the good old days of JS framework wars.
4
Which college and course?
3
@samuelmorkbednarzkepler There's a difference between never changing vs evolving vs changing like crazy. Plus, there's nothing you can do with one framework that can't do with another.
3
@samuelmorkbednarzkepler You missed the point which I am trying to convey. I never said improvements aren't good. But as a developer it feels crazy to keep up with all new frameworks. Ever heard of "JS fatigue"?

The vision pro has lot of potential, but that will be unveiled once there is a good app ecosystem and a significantly lower price point. With that it can potentially replace your mac and ipad, and to some extent the iPhone. This is gen 1, so can't be perfect. When iPhone launched, it didn't have as many features, was very expensive, and didn't have any apps. But look at where it is now.
3
Rust's syntax looks scary 😯
3
We are so bored with our lives that we need a war to give us something to talk about. Sad reality.
3
When I see such young people creating new programming languages, my imposter syndrome touches new heights.
3
Yes! Finally, software engineers are not the only ones going down. Now someone please create AI to replace CEOs, managers, investment bankers, hedge fund managers, and all the money sucking power controlling people out there.
3
I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Generative AI might replace game designers soon, while making video game production drastically cheaper. On a tangent, while the new graphics are impressive, I wouldn't call them super realistic. I could easily figure out that it's a video game and not an actual video footage of a jungle.
3
That was some deep level hate that Jeff had for React 😂
2
Seems legit. My only concern is vendor/cloud lock in.
2
So apparently there's no css technology/framework out there that solves all CSS issues. Even css-in-js has the problem of larger js bundle size, which might slow down your page load time if you have a large application.
2
What if we have some big custom logic/algorithm that needs to be run on the backend? How will we do that in Firebase or AWS Amplify?
2
I am wondering if RabbitMQ gives any significant advantages to async platforms like Nodejs?
2
Please keep this slower speech rate for all future videos as well. It's much better to understand than when you just pace through everything.
2
Great video. Please also do a similar one explaining backend tech stacks in detail, like a brief about Java, Apache, Spring, NginX, etc.
2
What does "Based" mean?
2
This is really nice. But I wonder how much different is the security part of login mechanism vs the security of other parts of the app? Given that auth0 is only going to secure the login, the devs still need to implement security in other parts of the app (which is basically most of the app). So if they are building good security mechanisms for other parts of the app, they should be capable of securely building the login part too?
2
Anybody else wondering what happened to that guy who fell from the rock? 👀
2
As a front-end dev with 10 YOE, I am fucking tired of working in front-end. I just hate it now. Backend and AI looks way more appealing and satisfying, but there's a high switch cost.
2
Can you do a video on Meteor JS too?
2
I have been using React for a few years now and have also briefly used ReactQuery. But it feels too complicated to use. I didn't understood everything in this video too.
2
Please do a 100s on Kubernetes!
2
This is great, but Nextjs is still not the correct choice for interactive, native app like client rendered applications I believe..?
