What do you mean loss of freedom if you agree to it? And what people arent going driving without their smartphone on and 50 apps with location access on in the background? No person I know wants privacy, theyre not even willing to degoogle their phone.

Tesla Insurance is basically like this. The more safe of a driver you are the lower your premium.

There are tonnes of people who want to opt in to this type of service because they are safe drivers. And this type of stuff has existed for years in the US at least, and all it requires to be installed in any car is a cheap aftermarket GPS. So don't talk about 99% stuff. The best customers of insurance (the safest drivers) will be opting in to this type of service. LOL, good luck on getting 99% of people to refuse.

Or... They'll just put a key on your car with a GPS and breathalyzer and it will work with old vehicles. And you won't opt out because every insurance company will do it, and they'll offer you way lower rates for monitored driving vs non monitored. You probably will still be able to pay a premium for non monitored.

EV sales increased by over 120% in the US in the last 24 months. @gilbertsandoval1888

Actually, this stuff has been tested for years and there are many insurance companies (plus customers) that are for it and actually campaign for it. So it won't be made illegal. Tesla's insurance product is all about rewarding the safest drivers with the lowest rates, and any state that they're allowed to introduce insurance, tonnes of people opt in. But this is available for all sorts of cars including all gas cars, all that is needed is a little GPS in the key or key system. Most leased and rental cars have an aftermarket GPS installed in them already. They're so cheap that used car dealers install them on used cars and shut down the car if the payments go in arrears.

You can throw half this stuff on a small chip with a GPS that will lower your insurance costs if you drive safer. Has nothing to do with old cars, you are all old people who dont understand technology. This tech can all be put on a key lock for cheap.

@UmmYeahOk The problem is that you are all technologically illiterate. All cars you lease, all cars you rent, already have and have had for years, a cheap GPS device that can turn your car off remotely. There's very little cost involved in installing this technology on an older vehicle, as you see used car dealers doing it to deactivate cars when someone is late on their financing.

People wont even drive in ten years, let alone 20 years. Your timeline estimates stink of someone who doesnt even know what gpt4 is

I don't know much about classic cars, but Waymo and other autonomous vehicle services will lead to a glut of supply on the used car markets. Used cars in general will lose value.

We have aftermarket GPS that can remotely disable any rental or lease car, and often it's even sold inside used cars and they are disabled remotely when someone is late on payments. Are aftermarket GPS add ons illegal in Germany? I believe GPS chips themselves are legal in Germany because you're allowed to use smartphones there, but you may have some law that says don't put one on a car. Does Germany not allow people to share their driving data in order to get cheaper insurance rates? Because there is a huge amount of willing customers (people who drive safely and want to save some money) that will actually opt in to this type of thing. Would the German privacy police tell them to stop?
