  2. The reason Australia is so sparsely populated is because they have special detention camps for Indonesians and others who try to move there by boat. I assure you, MILLIONS of Asians would love to move to Australia but they are limited by quota to small numbers. Indonesian refugees are kept on island detention centers.

  5.  @brianpugh6707  what do you think a permanent resident is, someone who holds a green card? As Canadians, we can stay in the US up to 6 months of the year without the IRS coming after us. Many people who own businesses or real estate, do remote work or internet based work, spend a decent amount of time in the US. My parents and their neighbours are also snowbirds and prefer Nevada, Arizona, California and Mexico. You can basically spend the majority of your life in these places without even getting a residency visa, because of NAFTA. Before 9/11, we didn't even need passports to visit the US.

  6.  @eddyleast8684  The item in lithium ion batteries that has gone up the most has been nickel. Solar doesnt require lithium ion batteries for grid storage, there are multiple storage options possible.

  7. Why not just do a tenth scale of this for a billion or so? A few investors could make that happen. I do think something smaller than this will arrive when we get electric VTOL air taxis.

  9. It wouldn't be a climatic disaster by stopping the Sahara dust. This area was not always desert. There were massive lakes in the south of Egypt just 8000 years ago. 30kya, there was almost no desert in that area of Africa.

  17. Dubai produces drinkable water at their new desalination plant at 2.9kw per 1000 litres. That's about 20 cents for a thousand litres. Water is not as expensive as oil, no way.
