+k3nny111 Given that Peterson is a professed Christian & that most Christians refuse to engage with Nietzsche at all, I think his point is partly to say to Christians that Nietzsche's work is not without great value & insight. Given that many, if not most, of his audience aren't proffessed Christians, I think he is also trying to introduce the idea to them that this doesn't mean they don't still largely have Christian values &to everyone that most of what people understand as Christian values in a postmodern nihilistic context aren't just Christian. As you say Nietzsche's opposition to Christianity is clear & Peterson, having read him &admiring his work, probably disagrees with some of his value premises whilst appreciating the sharp insights that trim the dead meat from the structure &arguments Peterson has built from his own. One day he may address Nietsche's work directly &even if he doesn't, the discrepancies you mention will have to be tackled when he reaches the New Testament, if not before with Isaiah.

+k3nny111 Thank you. Your posts, which I appreciate, deserved the effort of a careful reply. I too look forward to Peterson directly adressing Nietzsche's Christian critique though I'm not directly familiar enough with the latter's work to guess at all. However I think it obvious to say that Peterson will address Nietzsche's life &beliefs with a Darwinian lense. If you don't mind: Did Nietzsche distinguish between Christianity as an evolved layer of belief on top of others (much as Peterson presents) Or as a closed self referential total belief system (as many Protestant Fundamentalists present)? Or do such distinctions mostly not seem to matter to his critiques?
