This all stems from writers believing every fantasy world to be like Warcraft. This is the issue, a lot of people don’t understand that compared to today’s typical understanding of fantasy and what it has become, Tolkien’s world is significantly different and doesn’t share a lot of the tropes associated with the genre today. This is evident in such things as magic being extremely rare in the world, there are a total of 5 wizards, in warcraft you have entire academies teaching mages, and magic in general is a totally common occurrence. It’s just obvious that the writers fundamentally don’t understand Tolkien and just go off of what they believe fantasy in general to be like off the top of their head. So much for hiring "Tolkien experts", they either were incompetent, or were ignored.
