Even without supporting Trump or being on his side, it really feels like they’re reaching for every dirty trick in the book to silence him. That’s something Erdogan or Putin would do to their opposition, not something that should happen in the (supposedly) stronghold of democracy that is America. It is scary to think about that they’re going to these lengths to not let a citizen be a presidential candidate, it severely shatters the idea of anyone being able to become president if enough people vote for them, and only strengthens the detractors in their belief that the political system is rigged and being passed between the same corrupt politicians over and over. It doesn’t matter if this is true or not, but it’s the message this sends, that the system gives the illusion of opposition but actually will just get rid of you if your opposition becomes too big.
