  4. Me I lived in Brooklyn my whole life. I don't think developers understand the history of how Brooklyn was made and how beautiful each neighborhood has to offer. They understand it but they ignore it. For me I wouldn't want tall buildings in my neighborhood because I don't think it's necessary to build taller. I think they should focus on restoration rather than demolishing for new buildings. Brookyln is known for its brownstones houses and other styles houses and apartments, it really makes our neighborhood beautiful when the sun shines and in our neighborhoods people left some really beautiful ornate buildings here. Sadly some of them are being demolished for these new buildings which I don't find them so attractive becuase it segregates the neighborhood. The owners that sell these houses say to their neighbors that they will come back, but rent price has increased and that means they will unlikely comeback since they cannot afford it. All of our 5 boroughs have something unique to tell. Just becuase our city is big doesn't mean we need to make it bigger. We don't need it, it's unnecessary. If you read this we'll thank you for reading this becuase this is coming from a person whose lived in Brooklyn for a long time and i think it's changing a lot but I hope it doesn't change so much.

  25. A lot of idiots in the comment section. When you build too fast and big , they are not thinking about how future populations will immigrate in these seperate communities. They should consider having streets, roads for cars and trucks and buses, somewhere for trains to transport, as well as parks. How are these good cities when those ideas are not into consideration becuase that's what makes a good town or city. A city or town is a place to bring people together not separate it.. They way it is plotted feels divided, not feeling belonged, they should let with time and other people build their cities naturally, not artificially and unlasting. That's how you can create a great town or city. To make Manhattan it took around 200 years to make it what is now, and people nowadays want and entire city in just 10 to 20 years, you're not gonna have that. Good work takes time.

  26. We didn't lose the skyscraper race it's just that America doesn't need many skyscrapers right now. We right now have many skyscrapers that are not being used at full capacity and I think we should worry about having those previous buildings in occupancy rather then building for empty offices and rooms. Our skyscraper boom was the 1900's and still in use for companies and people for the 21st century. Skyscrapers should be built when it's necessary not unnecessary.

  32. I've been living in new york and these very skinny and supertall skycrapers are just ruining new york city Skyline. They are too tall, i don't think it's necessary to make them too tall. I hope people realize that it's kinda unnecessary to build so tall. To me i find it disrespectful to the iconic empire state it just ruins the Manhattan skyline.

  38. This can't be called a Gotham city skyscraper becuase it doesn't follow the art deco style. Gotham city is made of art deco skyscrapers and also streamline moderne, Once again it leads to just a boring crystal box with different levels and just follows the modern style . I know this becuase once the architect said it follows the bahaus method, that means it follows the modern method. It can't be called a Gotham city skyscraper becuase it is not an art deco style becuase modern and art deco are both different styles and you can see it in the architecture. If you want to see real Gotham city buildings go to Chicago or New York, art deco buildings are there and those are the real Gotham city skyscrapers, not these glass behemoth that isn't art deco at all becuase at the end of the day they are just following the modern method. Good examples are the American radiator building, the carbon and carbide building, chrysler building, empire state. Those are the Gotham style skyscrapers.

And it's a lie that modern architecture is the only one that's sustainable, all architecture styles are sustainable, the word sustainable means something that is supported by the material that is used and how long it lasts. But in this video they are just prizing modern architecture to be sustainable when it's false. All types of architecture have sustainability. But this dude thinks that futuristic or modern are the only sustainable which is incorrect. Also that small town looks distant and has only apartments and buisness buildings. To create a good town you need to create good planning, think about the land, townscape, where to plot residential areas, buisness areas, government services like police, fireman, hospitals, schools. These so called smart cities are the dumbest thing that architects and developers are doing. You can't build a complete town in a couple of years, it takes many years to create a really well designed and beautiful town. Even the architecture is poor and ugly, there is no beauty, it's just the same monolithic architecture that is being produced and designed everywhere.

Me as a newyorker it saddens me to watch so many drug addicts but at the end of the day, it's your decision if you want to change your bad addictions. Im 21 now so if you want something you must fight and work hard for your dreams and take risks. Me as an architecture student, all i could say is that it takes time for making all those detail restorations and buisnesswise it takes time for rich people to buy those luxury spaces Becuase they are pretty expensive, even rich people have to think whether that space is worth it or not Becuase it's their money. It's unrealistic to expect all the rooms to be sold fast. Im glad that at least the Woolworth building is saved and will continue to be in new York for a while.

Yeah but in United States we have a rich history of great buildings, there are so many styles of architecture in United States, like beuax arts, art deco, classical style, gothic revival, european architecture, modern architecture and contemporary and many more. I don't think people understand that majority of the buildings are still in occupancy. All this guy in this video is talking is about how china has more skyscrapers than united States, I don't think it's bad for China to have bigger cities becuase their population is pretty large, but I find it really stupid when buildings are built to be abandoned, how come this guy doesn't talk about how in China has many ghost cities and this is due to the fast construction that China is having right now. Most chinese cities don't have sidewalks and houses for small businesses to develop. They just have big concrete buildings plotted on big Square pieces of land next to highways.
