The man who said that famous line of form follows function, his name was louis sullivan but if you see his architecture it has ornamentation, my favorite is the guarenty building I wonder why proportion and ornament and craftsmanship is not valued no more in architecture. Architecture is lost right now and it truly is sad.

  2. True but at the same times we will have to support traditional architecture and reject modernity. So us traditionalists will have to create some group and start to create traditional architecture in the future.

  4. You should watch this documentary called "Why Beauty Matters" by Roger Scruton he talks about how great art and great architecture gives inspiration to humans and how in return gives humans happiness.

  5. Yeah I saw old photos of the old penn station makes me sad that they demolished it. I don't know why but here in America they don't respect old buildings and they demolished them. In the 1960's they demolished the singer building. A beautiful building and replaced it with a black box.

  7. I took the history of architecture both the ancient and the modern times. I like the beginning of modern architecture but now architecture has no identity it is lost and its sad becuase there is no character in that type of architecture.

  8. They know but they need money to survive and they need to design this becuase of what the client wants and also Money. Clients and money is a big factor of how architecture is made.

  12.  @ThrownAwayVoices  good, I saw a documentary about Louis Sullivan and he always wanted his ornament to be part of the America. There are documentaries about him on how he wanted to create architecture that represents america. It's pretty interesting.

  13.  @unicorntomboy9736  i saw photos of gardens of the bay in singapore and yeah i can see why it's beautiful. I really like the forest and the plants and trees. Very good for nature but my argument is that in todays architecture we forgot about creating beauty into our architecture such as having ornament, craftsmanship, colored glass, statues, symbolism and thats missing in today's architecture. I think beautiful architecture matters and im studying architecture so this a big problem with architecture today. Having great tech and combining it with aesthtics that give life to a structure.

  16. The last best era for architecture was the 1920's till the 40's until modernists ideology came to existence and indoctrinated architecture education and architects philosophy to design this style and only this style.

  21. I am looking now at traditional and modern architecture. I realized Traditional is way more beautiful. There's ornamentation, It's more colorful, and has more detail. I look at modern it's more gray or white color and looks like a mess. It makes me sad becuase right now most of the world likes or prefer modern architecture. It's just crazy how people think nowadays. They destroy beautiful houses and apartments and replace them with fast and ugly buildings.
