Teacher will block it because it's not modernist

@colummulhern8865 I agree with you, I don't think it's fair to bully old or traditional architecture, the teachers are being a little totalitarian and I think it's not okay for teachers to be like that to students. Not everyone will like modernist architecture.

Hi I'm also a student of architecture, and I support you, yes in our academia, they tend to dismiss anything related to the past is considered innovative according to them, being inspired and copying some of the past is not wrong , it's just loud opinion that wants to control the future and only want to see modern architecture be the winner, it's like a cult that exists but for modern or contemporary architecture. That's the biggest problem in architecture. The ignorance of modernists to accept styles and traditional methods.

It gets you angry and the ones in charge ignore you and continue with their biased education in architecture.
26
I know it's hard because you have to learn it all by yourself, but keep going you got this!

Nikolas salingaros continues to fight, we must continue to send the message because there are many people out there who like traditional or classical architecture, even architecture students but they are indoctrinated by the larger establishment and changes their mind to only believe in contemporary architecture, which I think is wrong and makes it biased. I really gotta thank nikos for continuing to promote traditional architecture because he is minority. So us the few should continue his support.

You made a great point, the reason why natural stone is expensive Becuase naturally it is very slow for rocks to form. A lot of the strongest minerals that earth has is metamorphic rock which takes around 200 years to form new rock.
11
@oole0111 that's how I feel, I feel like south America just wants to copy American and European culture, when we have a deep history of culture. Modernity especially the architecture has diminished many cultures and their art.

Keep going we are gonna be the change that our architecture will need.

@KolyaUrtz I am in architecture school, currently in my 3rd year and i deeply do care about architecture, it saddens me that classical or traditional styles are looked as either old and not relevant and not unique according to these arrogant people or even called fascist by my teachers. Me who has new ideas for any kind of style of architecture, makes me look like I'm a bad person, everyone is forced to design modernist or minimalist style, it feels totalitarian and that's not right. I don't think that's right to do that especially in a professional level of education where there should be respect, but clearly there isn't, I think us who like traditional architecture and styles are fighting to keep and continue the beauty of the past because to us and many others this kind of beauty is unique and inspiring. There are many elements that were thrown away by some loud mouth modernists or revolutionist who want to control architecture with their ideas. I'm not against modernism because technology and construction advanced, I'm against the prohibition or the ban of not building or designing traditional architecture in our schools, the past is connected to our future and to our present.
4
@vylbird8014 you just contradicted yourself, you said it's not time, yet workers are paid for working in a certain amount of time, so the issue is time, construction today wants to use the fastest way to build structures, so the modern idea of concrete is reliable and used.
3
I also like Tudor architecture especially the ones from medieval Europe.
3
@DameOfDiamonds that's awesome, my college is a modern glass building which I hate Becuase the glass always reflects on my eyes and it is horrible to experience that. I only like glass buildings when it's cloudy or at night.
3
The world needs to do this, we have to bring back beauty and care for our cities
3
The building beautiful or building connected with our past is going to take a long time to progress but little by little there will be progress. We have to believe again even if it's a little unrealistic today to believe that it is possible to build and design like the past again. Creating an education system like the school of beaux arts is vital for the education of traditional architecture. The knowledge and education of traditional architecture should be shared and created by schools again.

This video is so important, thank you aesthetic city, i also share the same pain of feeling left out in school becuase im also studying architecture and is learning modernist ideology instead of traditional architecture education. Hopefully in the future classical architecture schools open in europe, I'm surprised that europe has no classical architecture schools, hope with government and enough support, a permanent school for classical architecture in europe is there Becuase europe is the epicenter for classical architecture.

True, graduating architecture school is such a long time.

This channel has exploded, I remember when you had only 200 subscribers and I was one of them. You have achieved your fame. Enjoy it!

@GabiN64 European civilization is more older than America's
2
@mint2574 hey you're not alone when it comes to do this, they just don't like traditional architecture because they believe it is not progressive but that isn't entirely the case, they just don't want for traditional architecture to be dominant again because in history they at the beginning were not supported but now they are way too supportive. But the good thing is that now people are starting to like the styles more so there is hope for a return.

Keep going dude and don't give up on your dream.

I recently talked about beauty in my architecture school. And by quick reaction my professor got angry and told me to be quiet. It saddens me that I'm a minority in that class to design and like traditional architecture. Beauty does matter but our establishment has been hijacked by the socialist cult that the modernists are by saying that beauty doesn't matter. The sad part is that they are brainwashing the future architecture students to design in a ugly way.
2
So what do you believe should be built? because I'm studying architecture and looking at futuristic and contemporary styles you don't see any of the features of what a traditional or a vernacular style has because it doesn't relate to the context of a city because they design in a way that it is only served to be crazy and be independent. That's why our styles that we have from the past should be followed again and used again because this is probably the best that beauty in our humankind can produce.

👏👏👏

Keep having hope, never lose. We can design small but beautiful traditional houses, It does feel hopeless when all you see is ugly modern architecture being built.
1
@lunawense6288 if I'm correct, the average crust of earth is like 20 km or 43 miles. But I don't think people or the technology we have is going to mine this deep.
1
@LO-dm6uf what kind of contemporary architecture do you like? Most contemporary architecture that I see is not beautiful, I'm a student in architecture and the architecture they show me is not beautiful it's very abnormal looking.
1
@Shiranova it is copying the past but for the modernist or postmodernist style, that's why I say that traditional styles should not be banned, plus it is unique to our culture and our own art styles too.
1
Clearly you do not study Architecture and that's fine.
1
I prefer that than a factory looking building, at least the traditional one is a little more pleasant.
1
True we like to talk about beauty but we do not contribute to it or even work for it.
1
Beauty does matter, as an architecture student, this is important.
1
Gothic is my favorite, and a return of it would he amazing.
1
Some buildings from Zaha Hadid are beautiful.
1
Democracy has brainwashed our societies thinking that is the best and fairest system for the people when clearly it is not.
1
There are some firms that do classical architecture. The reason why classical architecture is not relevant is because of cost and lack of craftsmanship jobs. Being honest there are a lot of Traditional old houses that are abandoned so I think we should restore them. Nostalgia is nice and I like nostalgia, but I think it's bad to stay with the past forever, that destroys new ideas and new architecture designs. I'm an architecture student and like to study architecture history.
1
They don't want you to design classical architecture Becuase they don't like it, so they put punishment on students who do it. Which is wrong and evil.
1
Yes especially if you studied history of Architecture Becuase you will appreciate the past and the craft and the proportions of these structures, but the past is also not good Becuase back then Building technologies that we have today wouldn't exist or would be in poor condition, that's why modernism is good Becuase if it weren't for modern architecture, engineering wouldn't progress, sewers, electricity, heating, all those modern appliances wouldn't be used. I'm guessing the only downside of modernism is the lack of character and craftsmanship of the buildings.
1
Yes I agree, we should boycott corporations.
1
You have your right and I kinda agree, I also think they are a little kitsch looking but I prefer this than those glass behemoths I see everywhere, if only they added more diverse natural materials, made each new building a little different in appearance, we could have made some beautiful traditional architecture. The way I see it, when there is too much of any style, it does become a little kitsch.
1
@twiggledy5547 pretty sad if you ask me.
1
Shut up, you are using God for your own benefit, people can design their cities in the old look or new one if they want to.
1
They are the reason for the ugliness that is being created, the stupid logical economic reason.
1
Sad reality.
1
You are different, you definitely have a different taste.
1
Only after art deco Era, but the good thing is now some architecture firms are creating new traditional architecture.

@beyondborderfilms4352 your comment is so predictable, I've seen the same type of comment you write in other channels for about 2 years already.
