  1. Me as a person who loves architecture. They treat architecture as if it has to be new and trendy and different but have forgotten that architecture is a place where humans should feel happy looking at it inside and outside. That is something Modern architecture does not show.

  4.  @blackbeardless  it's great because that architecture was made of more natural materials, they last longer, they aren't all crazy shapes like some architecture that they are doing now. It has ornamentation and has color and there are different shapes that are in proportion. Look at gothic, roman, all the other styles that came previous to modern architecture, they are interesting becuase they have interesting things to look at, when I see modern architecture they are all squares, no proportion, and weirdly placed and no craftsmanship which means those houses don't have those additional features and kind of makes a house look boring and simple, no creativity. Modern likes to use white, gray, or black in their structures. There was so much great architecture from the past and other people thought it would be better in the future, but now we have this. All glass, all concrete, steel but there isn't that character that a traditional style gives. That's why I think traditional architecture is better.There warm, have color, ornament,craftsmanship. It makes a house look beautiful and they should bring it back or at least make some effort.

  6.  @Sam_T2000  i don't think ugly buildings shouldn't even be built becuase they are a waste of precious land. I believe something that is well designed should be built and put into this land, and not a crazy ugly looking structure. I prefer good architecture to be built instead of ugly architecture which in today's society and most architects admire and make that ugly and similar style. Modern style looks good for stadiums and airports, but the rest no it doesn't. They are fractlated, disproportioned and expensive and overall mundane. With our technology advances, we forgot about our uniquenesses which is our traditional styles and now all over the world it's the same architecture built everywhere which is modern architecture also known as the international style.

  7.  @blackbeardless  it looks like you don't know well about why modern architecture isn't a unique style at all, they all are just squares of glass and steel and many new of these rooms are the same. If they really did follow symmetry and proportion like a classical style which had rules and those rules give comfort to a human beings needs and are also aesthitically pleasing for everyone to look and walk into. If the modern style truly got inspiration from a traditional form, then they will follow some of it's rules but like this styles doesn't have rules then it's just confusion what you are designing and aren't following the rules. Modern architecture is a complete mess! Right now, it doesn't have any symbolism to anything and only cares about how crazy it looks and are more expensive sometimes than a traditional .their architecture doesn't care about relating to the community or surroundings. Also if you know the history of how modern architecture came to be then you will see that it was founded by anti-traditional ideas that wanted a architecture that doesn't care about looks and care about what it does. Traditional architects care about both in their design in which they are beautiful inside and outside. Modern doesn't care about those ideas they care about their ideas to be called what is now modern architecture and their affects have taken many cities to be ugly and indoctrinated many people's minds to believe that this is the future of architecture which is very one sided and rejects the other styles that came to be which were unique and different based on the country that they live in and how they were made. Early modernism was great because they followed traditional methods,, it's just that other architects and other ideas came to development and never put control and later people got inspiration from that and these monster buildings started to be made and lost architecture is still being made. I used to be a huge modern fan back when I was little but now that I learned more and read history then I realized that their movement caused hurt to the other styles and that isn't fair to call the other styles useless like my teachers said because they were from the past becuase this is how beautiful architecture was made and now in this world we call ugly things beautiful. Architects, people are lost and forgotten those little things that matter and give character to architecture like they did before. That's why I don't like modern architecture too much, they are bland, monolithic, and doesn't relate to surroundings. It's this cyber and futuristic architecture that make us in our heads think this is the future of architecture when it's not and it could use other styles as well.

  9.  @Sam_T2000  yeah but not getting rid of the look and style that our traditional styles give. Just by observation, older cities have more diversity in design and geometry. Now we have more identical designs that are similarly being built everywhere in the world. Thats becuase of the loss of meaning and importance of building in a style that will make your city unique but not the same which in today's era is.

It's just big scary squares all over the place or weird forms that look like sci fi. Just the fact that some architect got inspiration from crumbling a piece of paper and calling that architecture just shows how architects and the way architecture is portrayed now has lost their minds and do not respect how previous education of architecture was not valuable. My own teachers say that old architecture is not valuable, when it is and it's 100 times better than what modern is and this ego is destroying the uniqueness of cities. I know contemporary architecture, I know other styles too. It's just It's not the same becuase modern architecture doesn't symbolize anything and they are all bland, no symmetry, no proportions. Less space. The beginnings of modern architecture was correct but now it's lost and keeps creating lost architecture which sucks.

They would last up to 60 years and they start to become bad and deteriorate. While traditional architecture used real natural materials that could last more than 100 years.

  20. We should support and talk on the internet that modern architecture isn't great architecture. Traditional and Vernacular architecture should come back again and be built again becuase this architecture doesn't care about its looks and that's ruining cities. It does matter, beautiful architecture matters and some people don't see that. With all this technology it is more easy to create this architecture than in the past. I really do hope it comes back.

But it is important so students are not allowed to make structures beautiful, and most modern architects and it's followers say that architecture and beauty is subjective but no it's not.   28.  @connormay896  but it is true, not everything has to be modern. In some sort of way traditional architecture represents some distinctions from places. You know you are in Europe when you see it's gothic churches and castles, you know you are in Asia when you see its temples and palaces, or India with the Taj mahal. All these great cities that came from the past create different settings around the world which gives it's distinction and originality and represents its culture and its tradition. Now when it comes to Modern architecture it doesn't represent that. It is an architecture that has no style that connects to a country or it's culture or tradition. Traditional architecture used materials from its surroundings while modern uses cheaper and more risky materials that are not sustainable for a structure. They deteriorate to fast and with time become ugly. I do read books about architecture and still am learning but, when you start making everywhere modern then you are creating a city that looks the same. Not saying that ban modern architecture becuase it is useful for a world right now, but also learn what makes a city unique. It's not about how many cool buildings it has, it's about what the city offers too and take into consideration that good architecture creates good cities and happier people to live in.

Louis sullivan is the man who said form follows function, he actually made beautiful buildings but people didn't understand what he said becuase he cared about aesthitics and the purpose of the buildings. And that's why we have the modern architecture style now becuase of revolutionists such as adolf loos with his book ornament and crime and his idea that we don't need ornamentation and other luxurious pieces of material becuase it's useless and this led to other people that Basically hated proportions in a facade and ornamentation of a building to implement this idea of architecture. It is unfair that traditional architecture is seen as old when it still proves that it can still work. It's just for humans to be more open minded and see why traditional architecture is more beautiful. People by nature will passionately build something that is beautiful where nowadays they just build fast for money and demand and the architecture is proving itself that it is not great. They are architects that are building traditional architecture. If you really love classical architecture become a classical architect and join their firm because there is hope for classical architecture.
