  1. 4:50 Well if it doesn't work it's because you have no ability to control the mix of the vapor. A carburetor uses a venturi and butterfly valves to regulate the mix, and that's not even perfect because the response is non linear. So the carburetor barrel size needs to be chosen for the engine, and the needles need to be set correctly among many other things to get it to produce a good enough mix to run. It's pretty unlikely you would stumble upon a good mix. A true "vapor" carburetor would have a similar way to control the mix, as the Pogue carburetor. The issue is whether there is an appreciable increase in efficiency, not whether it works at all, because engines absolutely burn the vapor, this is not controversial. Edit: upon continuing to watch, you see that it only works right at a certain valve setting, and this is what I was talking about. I must say I'm quite impressed with how well such a crude setup works. This makes me quite interested in building a few different carbs and comparing efficiency...

  2. Another comment, drawing the air through the fuel like that might have a significant impact on efficiency. The Pogue make the vapor with an atomizer and by running that vapor through a heated coiled tube to keep any liquid from getting through or condensing, and uses a fuel pump.
