It’s literally entirely this. And being surrounded by wealth, making you jealous and thinking that wealth should be taken for things. Was recently in San Francisco, and upon seeing all the homeless and such, one of the people I was with, who is a city person, said “it’s crazy that the city is so wealthy and there’s still homeless”. What I’d say is “it’s crazy how much tax revenue they bring in and there’s still homeless. Almost like paying taxes doesn’t automatically fix things…”

@HappyBump-ts2gw What a dumb take. Do you realize that slavery was almost banned immediately? The reason it wasn't was that it would've likely caused immediate civil war, and the British would've just taken the colonies right back during the infighting.

It keeps their horrible governments on life support, when the people would otherwise replace it

@connorquerin ^ yes. Tariffs done right aren't done to prevent competition, they're done to strongarm another government into acting right. Likely, if Pierre wins, this won't even be an issue

It's not just regulation and rent control, it's also that people want to live at these places because there's lots of people, which has a compounding effect and raises prices

@Progamermove_2003 He literally stopped the bleeding. It takes time to heal even then, which is why it's such a problem to let it get so bad in the first place. There's much to be done there still, but to act as if he's done nothing? Give me a break

Yes, but then market forces would lead people to leave the cities until balance is reached

3:25 I don't think you were direct enough here. The point is that marxists blame poverty on everything but marxist policies. In the case of north korea, they'll blame it on the dictatorship. This case study show that that is bunk. Dictatorship is bad, but marxism has caused problems every single time it's been pursued, and we need to be unambiguous about that

Turns out, throwing money at the problem just serves to make us feel good, not actually fix anything

I mean, the difference with these currencies is exactly that they're not centralized lol. That's the entire reason crypto was invented. If everyone used monero for transactions, it would be even better than cash as far as being good for the people. But the tax man wouldn't like that very much

Well the communists should be happy about that, because it ends up redistributing wealth from wealthier countries to poorer ones, while at the same time making the redistributors of wealth rich themselves. If you want to keep wealth local, vote with your wallet and buy local, and vote for reducing government spending, which reduces people's agency to vote with their wallets
