  1. @veritasium The reason rods tend to fall sideways is because when vertical, the center of pressure is below the center of mass and pushing up. This gives an unstable equilibrium, where the sideways orientation is a stable equilibrium. This is why you add fins, to bring the center of pressure higher and make the vertical orientation stable

  2. Yeah even without active fins, just having a drop tube and fins would’ve made a huge difference. And perhaps laser based sighting
