  1. The tennis ball seems to drop slowly before the compression wave reaches it, how is that explained?

I think that it shouldn't matter, the ball does drop smoothly before the wave hits for the entire time before the wave hits, and I can't think of a factor that could cause this, but some inefficiency or something. Thanks for responding, and I would love to found the answer to this, it's been nagging me.
