And this is one of the big reasons windows is dumb and linux is good. It actually has the expected behavior of backwards compatibility in glibc, and a package manager tracks shared dependencies in a standardized way, and it decides what to uninstall, insteaf of the program being uninstalled, which is the obvious choice since it's impossoble for a dev to know which dependencies are shared.
