Several Asian countries have similar looking people, but significantly different heritages. An example of what I mean is that hating people with Russian heritage because of what Putin is doing, or hating Asian people because of where COVID leaked. That latter one was particularly fucked btw. The whole reason that the Chinese culture has embedded in it so much random wild animal eating and wet markets comes from their recent history of famine due to communism and needing to figure out how to feed themselves with whatever was available. We understand when old people are painfully frugal because they grew up in the depression. It’s not because they’re savages, it’s because of what they had to go through to survive. And it turned out that the bat soup crap was just a cover story for the lab leak anyway. Similarly, a part of African American culture is soul food, which is quite unhealthy, but is the kind of food that was available, and so it got embedded into the culture. At the end of the day, it seems increasingly clear to me that these people are racists too. Just a case of “the surest way to win people to your cause is to tell them that they can be nasty to others”. They just want an excuse or outlet to be racist and for it to be ok
