  2. It's thematic of Marxist thinking. Other people are always supposed to pay for "progress". It demands that everyone participate in their project, which is why Marx's prescription is socialism, then indoctrination of the public to all support the cause, then communism. Even Marx knew that it can only work if you force everyone to participate. However, in a capitalist system, you can still go live in the woods with a bunch of people as a commune. Yet all of these communism enjoyers we have today never do that. It's only any good if everyone is forced to play along
