Also speed limit is set for the lowest common denominator, and enforced the same, regardless of whether you’re actually skilled or not

@wanilimbe Nope, and there’s not even signs most of the time. There’s just tick marks on the side of the road. However, they aren’t always watching every place with tick marks,

@daveblock4061 and those idiots are exactly why speed limits are low lol. You could be and F1 driver in a performance race car, and you’re held to the same limit as some idiot in a truck asking for a rollover into the ditch

People forget that driving in general is dangerous. You can drive the speed limit religiously and still get into an accident that’s really bad. Problem is that you have both skilled and unskilled drivers. The unskilled being the majority. And unskilled drivers don’t understand how to adjust driving for conditions beyond slowing for snow, and don’t know their limits. So the speed limit is set for the typical person, the kind that needs a blind spot monitor because they can’t be bothered to look before merging

1:00 the annoying thing about speed limits is that they’re set low because otherwise you’d have the road full of dumbasses who think they should go fast because the limit is high. You have to set it low, you couldn’t cite people for driving in safely fast if they’re at the speed limit. But guess what? Safe speed depends on weather, road conditions, vehicle, and driver skill. On the other side you have people who only drive the speed limit when it’s low because they trust daddy government to tell them what’s safe. Hilarious when they get a ticket for plugging up the passing lane for not understanding any of this
