  1. Guess what? The government artificially limits the supply of doctors and hospitals, and puts huge amounts of barriers to opening them. You can't blame the "free" market because that is not free. You strangle supply, make it difficult for competitors to come in and offer lower prices, you're going to get runaway high cost. Corporations are only able to do this because of cronyism. The government has wide reaching power that is very conveniently available for suppressing competition, if only the right palms are greased
