  1. I think the simplest way to put this is that they want to know why you want to work here in particular. If you don’t care where you work as long as you’re getting paid, you just aren’t going to be as attractive as someone that did their research and figured out something about that company in particular that they like. However, I do think that minimum wage type jobs have to expect that people are only there to pay their bills, which is why so many people get frustrated by this question.

  3. They didn't forget, there is just a culture of job hopping because one can increase salary significantly for the same position by doing so. Apparently they think turnover is cheaper than increasing raises for experience
