  1. Yeah well I didn’t know any better at the time. My MacBook is 10 years old now, and at 6 years a capacitor ruptured on the motherboard. Later I found out from Linus Tech Tips that Apple deliberately runs the fans low so that their computers don’t sound loud, so that they can focus on having their thin sexy design. I had noticed that my laptop always ran sorta hot in my first couple years owning it and so I got an SMC controller program to artificially raise the fan speed. The capacitor that ruptured did so because it got too hot for too long too many times. I hadn’t been using the special program since I figured it shouldn’t be necessary, but apparently it was.
