@42jnyl Have you heard of Unreal? That is open source but has I think honestly one of the best possible funding models. If you’re small fry it’s free but if it’s something you’re making solid money from then you pay a percentage

@42jnyl Another thing to note is that much of the benefit of open source is that there’s no quid pro quo profit incentive. There’s no reason to sunset a useful project because its not profitable enough. And if maintainers decide to move on with their lives, anyone can pick up where they left off. All their hard work isn’t just thrown in the garbage heap of history because of licensing issues
