that is so misguided I don't know where to begin but here is one point. part of the Budapest pack was that Ukraine would never join NATO. First act of the new regime after the coup was to change their constitution to make way for NATO membership. NATO is the problem.

Part of the security pact was the Ukraine would never join NATO. First act of the regime after the coup in 2014 was to change the constitution to pave way for NATO membership. So who broke the agreement?

No Anders NATO is the problem. Ukraine had a security pact with Russia and a few western nations, part of the pack was that Ukraine would never join NATO. First act of the new regime after the coup was to change their constitution to make way for NATO membership. Anders and the western backers are finally agreeing to what Prof. Mearsheimer and countless other experts have been saying for years, Russia will win and win decisively and it was futile. Anders talks about Ukraine being more flexible than the west give them credit for....are you serious. First Ukraine have it written in law that they may not hold discussion with Russia. Zelenski has driven his country into oblivion at the behest of the western leaders and extremist right wing groups in the government. Russia's terms are no NATO in Ukraine full stop. So lets just lick our wounds and move on to a conflict we can win and restore our dignity. I hear Austria is still neutral....

@Destroyer120296 Exactly Russia put a stop to that. West never had any real intention of letting them in. As stated by several US congressmen, they will fight to the last Ukrainian to destroy Russia. The whole disaster is a neo con wet dream.

@robertscott961 maybe not but was agreed and based on the fact Ukraine's constitution explicitly ensured neutrality, no NATO membership. After the overthrow of the elected government the pro western regime then removed that paragraph from the constitution. Russia has said since 2007 it will never allow Ukraine to become a NATO member. So the grounds the Budapest pact make no sense to Russia. Can kinda understand Russia's obsession with Ukraine having been invaded several times from Europe, last one costing 26 million. No security for Europe without security for Russia.

@thekinginyellow1744 For a start all my knowledge comes from Americans and a few Europeans who are far more independent than our friend Anders. Prof. Jeffrey Sachs who has also advised Russia during their transition in the 1990's. Prof. Mearsheimer, Col. Douglas MacGregor, Col. Larry Wilkinson, Richard Wolf... no Russians there mate. No there is nothing in the Ukrainian constitution about neutrality, Poreschenko removed it in 2022. "Russia and (the rest of) Europe were both perfectly secure until Russia annexed Crimea" Correction. Russia and (the rest of) Europe were both perfectly secure until Victoria Nulands 5 billion coup in 2014. Here have a cookie! "but the audience for this channel is, in the main, of above average intelligence" yet you all think 1. the war was totally unprovoked. 2. There are no ethnic Russians or Russian speaking in eastern Ukraine. 3. the Ukrainians are winning 4. Russians blew up their own pipeline. 5. Russian economy crashed years ago. 6. Russians are suffering massive loses compared to Ukraine. Even though 70% of casualties in this type of war is from artillery and missiles which according to western experts Russia have between 7 & 14 to 1 advantage. Do the math sunshine. All this BS according to Anders. Enjoy your bliss.

@philipeduardovich7834 it's been a US doctrine since the early 1990's, Ukraine was the jewel in the NATO expansion crown. Europe was against it but Bush pushed it through in a NATO declaration in 2004. Europe especially Merkel knew it would lead to war. First coup failed in 2004, again in 2008 then 100,000 demonstrators were allowed to overthrow a government voted in by a country of 42million in 2016. From the time Poreschenko come to power (handpicked by Nuland) Kiev started to attack the Donbass when they refused to recognize the US puppet government. A neutral Ukraine was an ideal buffer but we just had to push for NATO expansion.

How is that stalemate going Anders???

@thomasflenegan-wm9ef Almost all of NATO west in unison agreed they will become members. The Ukrainian pro western regime that took over after the coup anounced it and changed their constitution. During the 7 year civil war between the Donbass and Kiev NATO built bases and armed Ukraine to a level other European NATO countries would envy. A man standing over you holding a knife, you should not have knocked him out as he hadn't actually stabbed you. Makes sense. Sad thing for Ukraine is the west have no intention allowing Ukraine in but Russia could not take that chance. Security is mutual and if Russia has no security either does its neighbours.

@UserErr0r3578 No coup? Yanukovych signed an agreement to hold early elections and pull his security forces back. This was backed by Russia, French, USA and I think Germany. The day after the Azov and other extreme right wing groups stormed the parliament and yes he fled. The west reneged on the deal and recognized the newly installed regime. You know the one Nuland had already picked out with Poreschenko as leader. Now if 100,000 protestors and overthrow an elected president, I'd call that a coup. As for your election the Russian oriented eastern Ukraine would not recognize nor participate with demonstrations and armed resistance in the east. You do recall the 20 odd pro Russians demonstrators in Odessa slaughtered in the trade union building(burnt or shot) by the Azov thugs???? On camera. Russia would never have signed the Budapest pact if Ukraine had intentions of joining NATO and they didn't until after the coup when the new pro western government removed it from their constitution. Russia are a little paranoid about Ukraine and with good reason. They were invaded via Ukraine from Europe a couple of times the last one costing 26million. Think you'd appreciate that. Now fact is Russia are taking back the pro Russian areas, funny how there is no resistance in Crimea or the Donbass. The west started this mess with our exceptional arrogance and Ukraine is paying for it. Now the west is abandoning them and we in Europe will have to deal with this mess, not to mention our economy is in free fall. Russia's army is stronger than ever and far from isolated which was our plan. Time to move on and destroy Georgia now. Watch this space for Anders to put his pro NATO spin on that.
