We have a Socially Democratic Oligarchy. And, because rich influencers can now buy some laws--like a huge-ass tax cut--we are a nascent Plutocracy. So we need Bernie to help us roll that crap back!

  3.  @daisyelmir1289  and Jon Ilum Daisy, I think what Jon means is that if everyone benefits more equally by means of controlling inflated prices, then we worry less about having enough money to live on. See, right now people at the bottom are forced to put in everything we have and our burden is the foundation that holds the system up. So if not for our seed money propping the whole thing up, then everyone would have less. And for our paying in the highest percentage, we benefit the least! That's why redistribution makes us better off as a whole. That's how things were after WW2, before the greedy Corporatists began their 70-year effort to destroy the New Deal and created the mess we have now. So we've always had some socialism (income tax, etc) and all Bernie wants is to go back to when everything was more fair. Sorry for being so verbose.

  5. Goose We're using Oligarch incorrectly to apply to any rich person. Some are just rich. Others who are able to buy government actions are called Plutocrats. In our system of re-electable pols they are the Oligarchs! The small caste which governs, as per Aristotle. We have a Socially Democratic Oligarchy. If our politicians couldn't be re-elected, just one term and done, then it would be more accurately a representative Democracy. We still wouldn't have a true Democracy unless EVERYONE voted on every major issue. And we also have a nascent Plutocracy because now the rich CAN buy some laws--like a huge-ass tax cut for themselves! Hopefully Bernie can help us roll that shit back!
