You can't be like Covfefe and deny responsibility for deaths he caused because those deaths were due to inaction rather than direct action. If you make an umbrella statement referring to a group of people as 'you people' you don't get to blame any person you addressed for thinking the obvious, that you were referring to them, particularly since you made no identifying adjective to clarify that you were addressing only specific people.
