The granola thing was indeed classic. “I want my exact granola, exactly where I want it, exactly when I want it, and I want all of this without having to ask for it, and if you fuck any of that up there’s gonna be major drams.”

@jacobusderottmann1000 Are you saying you have sex with your granola?

I think he minces way too many words. He's basically a shock jock version of a psychologist. I don't know which lectures of his you guys are even watching. He drums up attention by just taking reasonably rational things (in this case, helping your children develop a toolset to deal with life), and either takes them too far or is just vaguely disingenuous enough to cause drama. And specifically vague enough to weasel out of it later on or something. At some point I'm sure he realized, "Hey, this is getting me a lot of attention!" Meanwhile, I fail to see how he is actually helpful and furthers anything other than his personal drama machine. And if you're going to have him on your platform, you should do your homework and know that's his schtick and should be prepared to pin him on the spot.

Gong off the top of your head without going back and looking anything from him up, what specific "fact" has he presented that you agree with?

And that is exactly the kind of half baked misleading proclamation I'm talking about, because stress is also a major risk factor in like a bajillion maladies. Yeah, you can lift weights to build muscle, but as I indicated, you guys just take things too far. On the one hand, such a statement is too vague and imprecise to be valuable, and on the other it's free license to take things too far to anyone who wants to run with it. That is exactly why Peterson is constantly complaining about how people are misrepresenting him.

And I suppose balance, or moderation, is left as an exercise to the viewer? Because... extreme balance and moderation and careful consideration wouldn't cause as much drama as running around proclaiming "stress builds strength and fortitude!!!1" "Extreme balance" won't get you famous now will it? It's the shock jock version of psychology.

You miss the point. His advice, as it is, is too vague and imprecise as to not be useful except to those who would twist it into essentially sadism. That’s why you guys also are similarly vague and can’t precisely identify Peterson’s ideas that you agree with outside of this 3min clip. In other words you’re not into Peterson for the specific knowledge and information (because there is practically none, hence your difficulty with recall), you’re in it for the drama.

I heard a quote today that I actually kind of thought applied to this situation as well. I'll just swap the names. Peterson tells a lot of angry, isolated people what they want to hear. It's really the same recipe. Note the recent incident with Peterson where he said something that his fanbase didn't want to hear, and hilarity ensued.
