  1. The problem with the legal reasoning is that there seem to be no metrics attached to them. For there to be balance you should have at least metrics. If they're screening tens of thousands of people for "bottles and firearms" and find LITERALLY NONE, then that's neither a balanced consideration of intrusion vs rights nor a good use of resources. They'd be better off actually having patrols over the area in question, but I guess the cops didn't feel like walking that day so they inconvenienced everybody else instead.
