@TheMVCoho Matt Risinger recently did a video on metal studs.
They're coming, the process has just been very slow.
No residential builder will touch metal because the workforce can't handle building in metal. They're not comfortable with metal framing, metal roofing, or even metal siding. They all want to do wood frame, wood siding, and asphalt roofs. They'll straight up tell you this if you ever actually attempt it. Don't believe me? Give it a try.
It's not just the framers -- every other trade that touches the house will also only know how to deal with wood. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC, door/windows, finish, drywallers, and even cabinetry only know how to cut/drill/attach to wood; they don't know how to deal with steel. Too many ad-hoc decisions are left up to the trades because the house plans aren't fully formed to begin with.
