I hate that science and medicine has become political. Men and women are different. People of different races have different reactions to different diseases, like sickle cell disease. This shouldn't be controversial, but certain anti-science ideologies have made it so.

That's obvious if you look at mating dynamics over evolutionary time. In humans, as in most mammals, males compete for breeding rights, while females are what they compete over. This means that almost all females that live to a breeding age in a generation will pass on their genes, while only a subset of males will. Genetic analysis has shown that only about 60% of men have passed on their genes, while close to 100% of women have. This increases the rate of change in men due to selection and stabilizes genetic diversity in women.

@dos1195 No? Men and women are different, in several important ways, physically and psychologically. And diseases do affect different races differently. Sickle cell disease for example is a lot worse for black people than any other race. These are empirical facts.

Sweden here, while boys and men are generally more likely to pursue and excel more in STEM fields girls and women are not uncommon, especially in the purely non-physical jobs. Where the divide is sharpest is in jobs that are dirty, smelly, physically demanding, dangerous, or unpleasant in some way and men vastly outnumber women in those jobs. There's still some women in those jobs but it's something like 1 in 10 workers, with the general exception of really physically demanding jobs where women who can actually do the jobs are rare as hens teeth and it's more like 1 in 100 workers.

Yup. That's not even touching on men and women, in statistically significant numbers, are interested in different things. Some of it is cultural influence, but some of it is cross-cultural and seems to be biological.

@CoalOres . . . Don't take this the wrong way, but you very, very clearly know next to nothing about how genetics/DNA, biology, fetal development, evolution, or the scientific process work. Please watch a few youtube videos on the subjects, because explaining everything wrong with what you just wrote would take way too much text and effort for a youtube comment. But I will try give a very short summary: Fetal development doesn't work the way you think, genetics don't work the way you think, evolution doesn't work the way you think, hypothesis formulation doesn't work the way you think, and lastly "different" doesn't have to mean "utterly different in every way," in this case it means "different in clearly observable and documented ways." Please watch some videos on the subject explaining what DNA actually does, gene expression and activation, how DNA affects fetal development, the process of fetal development, evolution (don't watch a dumbed down video on it, because they perpetuate a lot of simplified but incorrect ideas about how evolution works, pick one or even a series that goes into depth), and how to formulate a hypothesis. Please. (Yes, all of this WAS the very short version.)

Educate yourself on fetal development, the role of DNA in the development of traits, basic biology, the functions of the brain, evolution, and the role sex plays in evolution. Please. There are excellent videos on youtube, or wikipedia if you prefer to read. Please.

I hate youtube. I keep trying to reply to people replying to me and it just keeps deleting my replies. It even deletes a simple invite to give me a Discord server name to debate them. I despise youtube beyond what I tought possible for a website.

@truly_infinite You are empirically wrong. Race is not a social construct, it is physical reality, and it does affect medical matters. Sickle cell disease disproportionately affects black people and a lot more severely than other races. Pretending otherwise actively hurts people. Asian people are much, much more likely to suffer from lactose intolerance due to genetics. Pretending that all people are the same and ignoring differences actively hurts actual people. We are different, that is not a reason to either promote or dismiss people, it's just reality. If you cannot accept those facts then you are not accepting reality and you are actively hurting people. If you hurt people because of your ideology then your ideology is evil and should be abandoned by any person that actually values compassion and kindness.

@aaronthetree3758 Different races, not ethnicities. Ethnicities is geographic, cultural, and historic, and has no innate impact on health. Race is genetic and does have an innate impact on health.
