  1. I've only tested about 2200 lines of Java code written by o1 in the form of an alife simulator with an evolving neural net based on simplified NEAT. It's alright, nothing amazing, and required quite a bit of back and forth to get it to where it is now with the features I want. Buuuut . . . coding AIs have gone from laughable garbage to "alright" in a few years, enough to let someone like me, who doesn't really know coding, to make a simple machine learning implementation.

All this progress in just a few years points towards a shorter timeframe, like anything from 3 to 15 years seems reasonable for almost all low-level and a good deal of mid-level programming jobs to disappear. I don't think senior programmers will be replaced until quite a few iterations after AGI has already been achieved, there's just too much synergy between programming and life experience that goes into that position.
