I now know how my Dad felt going to the Movies as a kid and watching the serials like FLASH GORDON and THE LONE RANGER. You would watch the current chapter maybe once or twice and had to WAIT A WHOLE WEEK for the next installment. There may be ways to see them all sooner but then that would ruin the fun of the anticipation. I have currently moved back home to help take care of my Mother. She is 87 and needs just a little help. Waiting for the next Downie Live train adventure helps the time pass and things don't seem so bad. Thanks For Bringing Us Along.

Props to you man. I have no fear of heights until now. As you were climbing up I could feel my knees starting to shake. And I am laying in bed. Looking Forward to your next episode!

That was incredible! I'm not claustrophobic - until now. It is December 24, Christmas Eve Day. This is the best Christmas present one could receive. A once in a lifetime experience. Thank You. Oh, that bit on claustrophobia, now that we have come out of the tunnel and can see daylight and sky my anxiety level has dissipated to nil. Have a Happy Holiday and healthy and prosperous New Year.

The passengers are nice because they are Canadian.

Only 1 week, 168 hours less 1 hour until I get to see the next episode. I can hardly wait!

You are added to my Downey Live Playlist. Of all your adventures, I like your Blimp ride from Boston to New York City the best.
3
You are not just a train guy, you are a cinematographer/artist. Thanks for the "Documentary".

My Dad passed away 40 years ago in 1984 from Cancer. What I wouldn't give to spend four days on train trup with him. Even if it was through Texas. This route you took was similar to Route 66. Chicago to LA. Cherish the time you have together with your parents. It can end so quickly. Thank You.

Yonkers?! Where is Barbara Strisand Hello Dolly.

I have been watching this series since it started from Miami to Alaska. I have since moved from Arizona to Montana. I have greatly enjoyed the travels. But like me Mike will have to finish his journey. I moved to Montana to retire. I just turned 62 October 6. I moved to Montana to help take care of my Mom. She is 87. I will have to wait until next week to see Mike make it to the end of his journey. Good Luck Mike and thanks for the Good Times. You and your crew produce a most excellent product.

Find his Blimp video. It is awesome!!!

Somehow, it seems so Canadian to have the biggest adventure of the day being a curve in the train track.

I haven't seen you in a while . It is good to have you back. I always seem to find you as I am trying to go to sleep. But your videos are so good they keep me awake. Good thing I am retired. Sleep time is more of a suggestion than a carved in stone schedule.
2
You complained about being on time. Your on a train. In America. It's Amtrak. Check your calendar. You're on time.
2
I am retired. This is the most active I have been all day. I'm glad you invited me along. Now I just have to add you to my play list.

I will need counseling in 33 days when I am evicted from my apartment because my landlord is not renewing my lease. I have to put my cats of 15 years up for adoption and moving from Phoenix having lived since 1986 and moving back home to Montana. To move back in with my Mom. I'm 61, she is 86. HELP!P

Of course, these Canadian Bison 🦬 are so much better behaved than the ones at Yellowstone National Park. Correction: The Canadian tourists are so much better behaved than the Tourons of Yellowstone.

With Best of intentions, what could possibly go wrong? The Titanic theme. The Hindenburg theme. The Mike Downey Live Theme. You gotta keep smiling.

I'm back for a quick Hello. I see you finally made it through Montana. 😁

When I went back to school to finish my Bachelors degree bacķ in the mid 1980's, I knew a girl from Burlington, Vermont. One Christmas she gave a group of her friends Vermont Maple Syrup. I had never had real Maple Syrup in Montana. Compared to the sewar sludge I was used to, Mrs. Butterworth, this was liquid sunshine.

It's a nice night for a train ride. Dust Tornadoes are called Dust Devils

Well you could be from Normal Illinois but you could be from the suburb of Abi, Illinois. Or if you grew up where the two merged you would be from Abi Normal, Illinois. (Thank you Mel Brooks from Young Frankenstein.)

I feel so underdressed. But Thank You for alowing me to travel with you.

I am retired. The line about "Now that breakfast is over, I have nothing to do until lunch," really struck home.

Yes we needed that isolation 2 years ago. This is July 4, 2022. Just announced by the CDC. Arizona has just evaluated 9 out the 12 countries as having high infection levels and that face masks are recommended for interior spaces. Wèeerrrrree back. 9 out of 12 counties not countries

When I first moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1986, there was a mall that had an Ice Skating Rink in it Year Round. So it could be °117 degrees F outside, and you could be Ice Skating inside. That always blew me away. We didn't have an inside water park though.

I just had puzza for dinner. It looks no where nearly as good as yours. But I get icecream for desert. Carry on.

This is on my bucket list. Fly a half a day in a blimp. In High School I was the geek kid into blimps and airships. I was the only kid in a school of 2,500 students into blimps and airship. Point of Information: The name of the German airship that was first aircraft to fly around the globe was the Graf Zeppelin. It preceded the Hindenburg by several years. Unlike the Hindenburg, it never blew up.

Man, I thought I was pasty white. I'm a white boy from Montana, so I'm almost Canadian. But thanks for your positive, uplifting videos.

Traveling by train is the journey not the destination. Of course you change trains to see the day light. This is my second viewing of this trip. It was just as enjoyable the second trip as it was the first.

Growing up, my Mom would make her Cranberry jelly/sauce from scratch. Starting with fresh whole Cranberries and cooking them down and then mushing them into sauce. I never had canned cranberry sauce until I went over to a friend's house. One year, my Mom forgot the sugar. You only forget that once. It was definitely memorable. She also made her stuffing from scratch, her pies, her whipped cream, etc. My Mom had since passed but I will always remember her Thanksgiving dinners from scratch.😂

The adventure is in the journey not the destination.

It is great to see how they have re-used the old properties. 😊

This is how I discovered Downey Live.

It is pee king duck. Not pecking duck. Carryon...

Welcome to Montana. I was born in 1960. And according to the Beatles song When I'm 64. Enjoy Montana Montana, Montana. It is a big state. It is Big Sky Country.
1
This is like North Dakota. Which is really South Saskatchewan. Flat as a table. And the roads are just as straight. Happy Birthday young man. I will be turning 64 on October 6.

You are now EPIC. I just added your Formula One trip to Bahrain tor my DownyLive play List. You are LEGENDARY!

I'm following you since you left Miami to Anchorage. Thanks for the great train trip. I enjoy your travels so much if you would travel from Yaak to Alzada. ( Those are 2 locations in Montana frim the North West corner to the South East coroners of Montana. Only 785 miles as the road travels. Just kidding, nobody in their right mind would want to travel that far in Montana just for fun (?).

I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona, going north to Billings, Montana took forever. A train from Phoenix, to Las Angeles. A train from Las Angeles to Seattle. A train from Seattle to Glasgow, Montana. A plane from Glasgow to Billings. Cost? About the cost of a cheap Toyota. A flight from Phoenix to Billings $325. Economy. First class About three tines as much as Economy but still cheaper than Toyota. And by train it would would 3 1/2 days. By plane, even with 4 hour layover in Denver, 8 hours max.

Anytime somebody utters the term "Nothing Could Go Wrong" you expect the musical phrase "Dum Dum DUMMMM".

Happy Memorial Day 2023. What a way to celebrate AMERICA!
1
I just came across this video of yours. I hope to watch them all. I started with the your series going from Florida to Alaska. Now this series from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
1
As Popeye used to say, "Well blow me down." I don't know if the context is the same, but the words are.
1
You got to remember why you are traveling. Are you traveling to get to point B because you can't afford a plane or bus. Or just because you are not in a hurry and want to see where you are.
1
I'm in Montana in February. Surfing in Norway north of the Arctic Circle in August still looks cold. But thanks for the video!
1
I hear the Mammas and the Pappas California Dreaming. The real heroes of this story are the guys that surveyed this train route.
1
I never knew about Roosevelt Island Tramway. A new bucket list item.

I know I've been here before but a repeat is great!
