@dr33776 the irony to your comment is that, not only is his testimony of being a seer part of court records, but so is testimony from OTHER PEOPLE validating and confirming their belief in his seership which ultimately got the cases. So, while you sit here thinking you've scored some win, you've actually brought to light real cases that work against you; but at least now the people know.

Don't all groups have rules and restrictions? If you have a job, don't you have things that relate you? Also, isn't the misery experienced by people generally subjective? What might bother one person might not even be a thought to another. You're declaring misery as if it's a universal experience, and it certainly is not.

First of all, Memo himself (this guy in the video) is very well known online to be against the church even though he claims to be a member still. Second, the president of the church, Russell M. Nelson, does not own our control the money of the church at all. The money of the church is held in several places, and control of it (if you can say that) is NEVER decided by Nelson alone. While he is the president, he makes those decisions with at least the first presidency (2 other men) and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles (consisting of another 12 men), if not several other entities. Nelson himself is a retired heart surgeon who could have been a millionaire by now through his profession, which he hasn't done since the early 80s. He now gets an annual stipend (income) from the church of $120,000, which is less than what I make in my profession.

@dascudder are you aware that Nemo is a fan-favorite of the ex-mormon community? He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. Nemo loves to hate on the church. That's what makes this video so wrong! Y'all think he's telling you the truth, but he's misleading you. The president of the church is a retired heart surgeon (current annual income for a heart surgeon is starting around $450,000. Nelson retired in the early 1980s). Nelson makes whatever retirement he has from that, plus an annual salary from the church of a whopping $120,000 ONLY. I make more from my job than that.

The Book of Mormon actually says monogamy is the rule, and God sometimes allows for exceptions (no exceptions are found in the Book of Mormon, BTW; you'll have to read the Bible for that)

@IkfNorCalChamp polygamy WAS practiced in the church until 1890 - not by everyone, but by some. When the church ended the practice, some off-shoot groups were wanting to still have it. They were excommunicated and denounced by the church, and this is where you get groups like Warren Jeffs down in Texas.

All these people are telling you to look at old court cases, but not a single one has told you that all those cases were thrown out or otherwise dismissed because there was never any evidence to show he had conned anyone. No, he wasn't "known" as a con-man, only a few accusations with no backing.

@benu_bird I have no problem having those more detailed conversations. But the reality is, most people online (especially when discussing things like religion or politics) really don't care about the truth. I mean, we've all got the entirety of the world's information at our fingertips; yet no one actually does their homework when they come to a conversation. There are times when I've had really good and detailed conversations with someone who didn't like the church, and the conversation was productive. But that's not as common as some idiot who wants to throw out the same old "your church is a cult" accusations and not care about the truth. So, why waste energy on those folks?

First off, that's not even how normal corporations work; y'all should see that one right off the bat. Second, he knows damn well that the financial decisions of the church are not dictated by a single person and never have been.

Pay tell, who in the LDS church is making money? Our church president - who was a leading pioneer in heart survey and could have been a multi-millionaire by now - has an annual stipend from the church of $120,000. I make more money than that, and I'm a truck driver. No one is making money in the church.

@MrsKateT this isn't that hard to fact-check, really. The church has two corporations: the Corporation of the President, and the Corporation of the President Bishop. Both corporations are chaired by the leadership of the church (consisting of 15 men in the former, and more than 30 people in the latter). While the church president does outside over both corporations, the money is NOT his, and he never unilaterally decides any distribution of it. Additionally, the top 15 leaders of the church (the first presidency, and the Quorum of the twelve apostles) are all experts in their fields (doctors, lawyers, judges, pilots, etc). In addition to their returner income from those fields (whatever they may individually be) each member gets an annual stipend from the church of....... $120,000. For reference, the president of the church was a heart surgeon. He left a job which would have annually paid him almost a million dollars a year for less than I make as a truck driver. So when you think he's being honest, you're really just being gullible.

@MrsKateT I suppose everyone has some level of bias, but you'd be surprised how often I use sources unrelated to the church and even some antithetical to the church, because honesty and true transparency matter. Nemo is against the church, but claims he's just trying to shed light on truth. If this were the case, facts wouldn't bother him and he'd share them accurately, but this is not the case.
