  1. Where did you get that median? In Beverly Hills ? Yeah home insurance is a nightmare, and just went up by about 500%. But you could live in a place like Acton,which is similar to the Grand Canyon, since you are retired, you won’t need drive 100 miles to work, but you can drive 30 miles to Palmdale to buy groceries. But I think. That the prices you quote about California are not as high as you say unless you live in places like Beverly Hills, Woodland Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu, or Oceanside. You said that a one bedroom apt costs $1700 a month, but my son has a one bedroom for 1400 a month in picturesque East LA, about a mile from CalState LA!!!

  2. Yeah, but San Francisco has always been expensive, except in S. San Francisco, if you can tolerate a leaky roof, but if you work in S.F. They now have a great subway to areas far away in cheaper areas, that are nice!! But it is not true that all house have $13,000+ property tax. Our taxes in LA are only $2000. You will not freeze in LA because it is not that cold!! It only snows only once every 20 years!!! And the summer is not that hot, unless you live in the desert! You do not need as much as you say ($148,000) , unless you want to live in Beverly Hills or the “city” in San Francisco. Live out side of the areas where Hollywood Stars and MOVIE Producers Lilve!!! you are exaggerating how high California is!!!!

  3. A solution to all of this is for everybody to STOP buying houses, and /or cars, until the market collapses!!! Or stimulate the home builders to build more houses to increase supply and mitigate demand! I did that I When I waited until 2008 when the market collapsed and they lowered the prices of houses from 20,000 to 30,000! And would not sell until now when the prices went from high to ludicrous!!!

  4. wow, Wait until nobody can afford these prices and taxes, any where in the USA, unless you live in the bottom of the Grand Canyon close to the Indian Tribe that hates “white people”!!!! how in the hell has Oregon gotten so expense, when it used to be very cheap , in beautiful places!!!

  5. It appears that the cost of living is High in the whole USA. Unless you live out somewhere in the middle of the rural desert out 100 miles from nowhere, in Arizona!!!!
