  2. "Dating" at 11? Her family was horribly controlling but they allowed it? Maybe there were more issues going on in that family, other than her being born female.

  4. Don't forget- most households had 2 parents. One worked outside the home for money, the other cared for the home and children personally. Multi-generational homes were not uncommon, especially in the country. The idea of the American Dream was to own your own home came after WWII with the GIs coming home and consumption of consumer goods needed to increase to create enough jobs for everyone
